An Incredibly Simple Anti-inflammatory Maca Latte Recipe.

With the uncharacteristic rainy days in the UK for this summer season, I’ve been busying myself indoors and keeping cosy. One of the things that really gives me a sense of wellbeing on days like these is indulging in an adaptogenic and anti-inflammatory warm beverage it really ups the cosy factor! My beverage of choice is a Maca latte, now you may be wondering what on earth Maca is? well lets have a little look at this wonderful root powder;


Maca root, scientifically known as Lepidium meyenii, is undeniably a remarkable superfood that has gained considerable attention and acclaim in recent years. Now that we know a little bit about the wonderful benefits of Maca root, how about a yummy recipe for a lovely tasting latte just the thing to keep you cosy on a rainy day. Below is my favourite go to combination for an anti-inflammatory and adaptogenic Maca latte;

Ingredients

1 cup Oat milk

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp maca powder

A few drops of vanilla extract (optional)

Maple syrup to taste



Method

In a small bowl combine the cinnamon, turmeric and maca powder

Add some hot but not boiling water to the mix

Using a bamboo matcha whisk, whisk the mixture until bubbly

Add the maple syrup and vanilla extract (optional)

Froth one cup of of warm plant based milk of choice in a froth machine or use an electric whisk on warmed milk (Oat milk is the best although cashew and almond work fine too)

Pour the Maca mixture into a cup / mug and pour the warm frothed milker the mixture

Your Maca latte is now ready to enjoy!
