The Pechoti Method: Benefits Of Oiling Your Belly Button.

Lately I have been diving into the ancient healing art of Ayurveda and I have noticed that some ancient holistic healing methods are beginning to gain in popularity. One such method is the Pechoti method which involves the oiling of the navel or the belly button. Let’s take a closer look at the Pechoti method, what actually is this ancient Ayurvedic ritual and what are its benefits.

The Pechoti method in Ayurveda is a practice centered around the Pechoti gland, an ancient anatomical concept believed to exist near the navel. According to Ayurvedic teachings, this gland serves as a vital energy center and portal for delivering nutrients and energy throughout the body. The Pechoti method involves applying herbal oils or medicated substances to the belly button, allowing them to be absorbed through the Pechoti gland and subsequently distributed to various organs and systems. It is said that this technique can promote overall well-being, balance energy levels, and alleviate certain health issues. While scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of the Pechoti method is limited, it remains a popular aspect of traditional Ayurvedic practice, cherished for its holistic approach to health and healing.

The general idea behind the Ayurvedic Pechoti method is that with the use of a myriad of combinations of carrier oils and essential oils you can essentially help to bring about desired health benefits. For example castor oil used on its own in the belly button can help relieve digestive issues, revitalise the skin etc however using a carrier oil with a single essential oil or a synergistic combination of essential oils can unlock a whole different set of healing benefits.

I will dedicate another post to oiling the navel with castor oil and the use of essential oils using the Pechoti method. Have you heard of the Ayurvedic process of oiling your navel or the Pechoti method?
