Health Boosting Baobab Smoothie

I’ve been contemplating a general health boost lately and this has led me to explore some of the supplements that I have already in my pantry. One of the ones that I have been drawn to is Baobab powder, what is Baobab you may ask? Well it is a fruit from a tree of the same name. The Baobab tree (Adansonia) is native to Madagascar, mainland Africa and Australia. It is a relatively new super fruit to the Western Hemisphere but it is slowly gaining popularity not least because of its many health benefits.

The health benefits of Baobab come from the high vitamin C content of the fruit with it containing as much as ten times the amount found in a serving of fresh oranges. It also contains a high amount of fibre and more antioxidants than any other fruit. Some of the health benefits of Baobab include ; skin health due to its antioxidants and high vitamin c content, digestive health due to its fibre content, Immune health and detoxification due its ability to help the liver to do its job optimally.

With all those lovely benefits I thought what’s not to love? so I grabbed a few ingredients out of my kitchen and proceeded to make a lovely green smoothie infused with baobab powder to reap all the benefits that it has to offer. I am hoping that with spring around the corner that I am able to start enjoying a smoothie or two containing various health boosting fruits, vegetables and supplements.
