How To Spring Into Spring

It has been a little while since I had written last as life tends to take over sometimes, anyhow I am back just in time for the start of spring. The clocks have now gone forward and the days are definitely becoming longer. There is change in the air as the season transitions from the last hold of winter into gorgeous spring.

I really do love this time of year, in fact I would go as far as to say that it is my favourite time of year. A time for rebirth and new beginnings a time to cast off the dreariness of winter, to appreciate all the new life that is springing forth in nature like the new flowers emerging and blooming and the leaves are slowly beginning to get their leaves back. Even though here in England the weather has been unpredictable and it can still feel cold at times, I still find myself excited at all the possibilities that spring presents.

It’s a time to incorporate a few new habits or rituals into our routine and really get into the flow of the new season. Below is a list of things that can help to shift our mindset and physical routines to match the flow of the new season upon us.

  • Spend Time In Nature

Spending time outside in nature is really a good way to welcome the new season into our life, it is good for the mind, body and soul. This time could be as simple as a short walk outside or spending time in your garden if you have one or even introducing a new green plant to your space.

  • Move Mindfully

Its time to get the body moving and I don’t mean a full on sweaty gym session although that is also good for blowing away the cobwebs of winter sluggishness. I am more leaning toward a routine of mindful movement so that can mean slow, intentional and meaningful body movements like those that you can get during a good yoga , pilates or ballet barre session.

  • Set Time For Relaxation

As much as it important to move the body during this time, it is also important to know when to wind down and relax. I mean really relax and just enjoy being present, not just lying down and scrolling on social media but maybe listening to some soothing music, taking some time out to try and meditate or be mindful and in the moment.

  • Eat Seasonal Fruits & Vegetables

Nourishing the body with seasonal fruits and vegetables is a great way to bring your body into alignment with the season. It makes you feel really nourished and alive.

  • Get Some Sun

It is lovely to get some sun when we can, whether that be on a walk, in the garden or something as simple as opening up those curtains and blinds at home and letting the glorious sunshine in when it does appear that is!

  • Spring Clean The Green Way

It is that time of the year where it is so good to to declutter, clear out and clean out those corners of our homes that haven’t gotten much love during the winter months. From nooks and crannies to clothing and furniture it is time to give things a good old sprucing up. I love to use non toxic and green cleaning materials to help with the spring cleaning.

  • Plan A Trip

There is nothing quite like the anticipation of a future trip to get you looking forward to the better weather that is sure to be ahead.
